Housing Element Update – Progress Report: Planning for 2,735 New Housing Units
The San Carlos City Council held a virtual study session on September 8, 2021 to discuss the East Side Innovation District Vision Plan and its proposed strategies to inform future development and infrastructure improvements in the East Side. At the meeting on Sept. 8th, the City Council requested staff provide a status update on the Housing Element project to understand the progress on housing solutions to meet San Carlos’ 2,735 new housing unit Regional Housing Needs Allocation (“RHNA”) before it could act on the East Side Innovation District Vision Plan. This study session will provide an overview of community comments and consensus to date relating to new housing growth in response to the region’s need for more housing, and at more affordable levels. The public is invited to attend and share their comments with the City Council and staff.
