In accordance with State law, a draft Safety Element must be reviewed by CAL FIRE.  In its review, CAL FIRE provided recommended revisions to the City of San Carlos’ draft Safety Element, which have been included in the Draft Environmental Safety and Community Services Element of October 11, 2022.  Most changes provided additional detail regarding fire prevention, defensible space, and future wildfire protection planning. The Draft Enviromental Safety and Community Services Element will be reviewed on November 1, 2022 by the State of California Department of Forestry Board for their approval.  Thereafter, it will be reviewed by the Planning Commission and City Council in January, 2023 for adoption.
